Welcome to my Tearful Art℠ collection. I am so excited to share my works with you!
All of the works in my collection literally have a part of me in them. The medium for all of my work in the Tearful Art℠ collection are protein crystals grown from my own tears. How’s that for the art of science?
I am not a scientist but have always been fascinated by how the human body works. Several years ago I took a molecular biology class and after completing the class was even more stunned by the beauty, complexity, and simplicity of the human body. I remember coming home from class and telling my husband and kids that, “We are all big bags of water, protein, fat, and carbohydrates.” More in common, than not.
There has been so much focus on segmenting and treating people differently because of their religion, color of their skin, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, social-economic situation, political party…shoe size (don’t laugh, one day you could have the wrong shoe size). If we can focus on what unifies us–our humanity–and embrace diversity, the world would truly be a better place.
Tears unite us. We are all human. We all cry. Tears reflect all of our human emotions: sadness, fear, anger, happiness. My hope for the world is for more tears of joy!
I hope you enjoy the humanity put into each of the works in my Tearful Art℠ collection.
